Mama Joe Project July 8th a Connecting Moment for Peoria!

The Mama Joe Project centers storytelling via film as part of educational outreach to support caregivers, promote healthy aging, and improve outcomes for those navigating Alzheimer’s and related dementia. 

Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging was honored to promote this important event for a Community Engagement Forum. The theater at Grand Prairie 18 was full of people eager to hear the story of Mama Joe and the learning offered throughout the film and afterwards during the forum. People were able to visit resource tables from Graceland Center, the Deveraux Hubbard II Foundation, Molina Health Care, OSF Saint Francis College of Nursing, and Age Central. After the film, the Dr. Caldwell facilitated questions and answers with the audience and panel. A resource book, logo bag and Tshirt were gifts to the participants. 

The forum was moderated by Dr. Herb Caldwell, the film’s producer. The panelists included:

·         Jim Reichart, Molina Healthcare

·         Dr. Erin Hasucp, Smith Center for Alzheimer’s Research, SIU School

of Medicine

·         Peggy Jacques, Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging 

·         Dr. Charlene Aaron, Saint Francis Medical College of Nursing
