“Celebrating Past, Present & Building Our Future!”
Over 40 persons responded to our call to action and to consider how they could support the leadership development of Graceland Center. Celebrating the past accomplishments of Graceland Center is always encouraging and uplifting because of the changed lives we see every day in the present. The growing population of older adults is not escapable and must be thoughtfully considered for the wellbeing of all in the community!
Using Theory of Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs, the group discussed the needs of older persons and the resources available to them in Peoria. We found the resources to fill the Love and Belonging category can be lacking in Peoria, considering the changes in family structure and absence of a wellness center for older adults.

Opportunities to join the Graceland Center Team were presented.
Board of Directors
· Monthly meetings second Wednesday of the month 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
· Request four hours of time spent towards service of furthering mission, including meetings.
· Board Dues: $25/month to cover Liability Insurance
· Committee Service
· Ambassador to community contacts for Graceland’s mission
· Assist with recruitment of board members, volunteers, participants: no quotas
· Participate in fundraising activities as able: no quotas
Professional Advisory Council
· Meet quarterly for an hour to review GCPA status and make recommendations for next steps.
· Time 1-2 hours quarter
Ambassadors
Financial Ambassadors
· Become fully oriented to Graceland Center’s mission and vision
· Work as a group to establish list of contacts to approach for sponsorships
· Meet quarterly to determine quarterly fundraising goals
Community Ambassadors
· Become fully oriented to Graceland Center’s mission and vision
· As situations occur, represent GCPA to community agency representatives.
· Refer persons in the community to programs, website, FaceBook
· Meet as a group as needed for assessment of outreach and next steps
Ad Hoc Committee Service
· Attend established committees of your interest to give input
· Assist committee with accomplishment of goals

· Committee meeting frequency changes as needs change. Usually quarterly up to monthly.

Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging’s mission is to enhance the lives of older adults in Peoria. Our center has resources to address needs in all the categories of needs. As we build our leadership team for the future, we know how vital a wellness center is for the health of our community!
